15 Features

Sun Feb 1, 2009, 9:57 PM
Filled all the feature slots! :) Congrats to the featured artists. It's been wonderful to be exposed to so much great art over the last week. Thanks for playing, folks!

As per the agreement with :icontlcook:, I'm posting features of 15 Deviants. The game goes like this. The first 15 people to respond to my journal will get three of their deviations featured....BUT you also have to post the same in your Journal with me in the top slot! Sounds fair right? So respond away, and I shall pick three of my favorite Deviations from your gallery to post in thumbnail format. You know you want it!

UPDATE - Well, it was a fun game, everyone.  Thanks for playing and congrats to those that took home features.  I'll try to do this again in the future.  Lots of great work out there!  :D

So I opened up my deviantART browser this afternoon and did a double take. . .2,009 messages!  I then discovered that Norke :iconnorke:, an awesome deviant artist and fellow digital painter, had featured me in his journal and garnered me a Daily Deviation (at least I think that's how it works, right?)!  :)  Wow!  A huge thanks to Norke!  I also need to thank CainKinris :iconcainkinris:, who originally spotted my work and brought it to Norke's attention.  You rock, CainKinris!

I'm truly honored by all the attention, emails and notes I've been receiving from everyone.  I'm just very happy you all like the work I'm doing.  It's truly gratifying as an artist to give others images that they enjoy looking at time and again.  (I hope my work will stand up to repeat viewings.)

I've always tried to be an active member and respond to questions and comments when they come in.  I'm in the middle of a few deadlines at the moment and just won't be able to dedicate the hours of time that it will take to respond to all of my comments.  I'm going to get there eventually.  However, if I don't reply to your comment right away, please don't get out of sorts with me.  I'm going to make every effort to get to everyone in the order they came in.  I'm definitely reading everything you send and appreciate all the kind words.

I'll keep posting more work as I get it done and it clears NDA.  I'm just excited at this awesome turn of events.  I think I need to go sit down now.  Thanks again everybody!

Well, a lot got done for Comic-Con and a lot has come out from under the burden of NDA's, so it was time for a major update to the deviantART site.  I apologize for removing images people may have faved in the past.  There was a lot of old work that no longer represented where I'm at as an artist and it needed to be put in the vault.  So I've taken most everything off and revamped the portfolio with an almost entirely new set of work.  Come and take a look; let me know what you think.  :)  I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised with the progress since my last update(s).

Oh, just a note: my actual portfolio site is currently experiencing some technical difficulties.  I'm hoping to get everything fixed by next week but we'll see.  Thanks for your patiences and I'll post again when the site is back online and fully functional.

I've posted a few new entries in the ol' gallery.  You're all invited to check them out.  The book I worked on for D&D's Forgotten Realms title, "A Grand History of the Realms" hit stores a couple of months back.  I'm just now getting around to putting up a map or two.  I did most of the cartography for the book (all but one map I think).  It's a pretty looking publication, should you ever get the chance to pick one up.  I hope everyone who's celebrating the upcoming holidays has a great time of it.  I'll be gone for the last part of this month and most of December, traveling for business and visiting family.  Take care!

A big "Hey!" to everyone who keeps track of these postings.  I just want to say how wonderful it's been to receive so much traffic on my deviantART site this last month (Now. before you look at my visit count and scoff. . .it's much more than it was .  Any progress is good to me).  I've really appreciated your comments and hope I've responded to them in turn.  I'm feeling the love and want you all to know I appreciate it.  Keep coming back and tell all your friends!  :)  I'll be doing some updates here soon and will be launching my "official" site this month (fingers crossed) at:

www . nightlightgraphics . com

But more on the site as it progresses.  (I build it myself so it's not always tip-top as quickly as I'd like.)  Well, with that, I think I'll keep this short and sign off for now.  Thanks again and talk to ya soon!

Just wanted to let anyone who fav'd my pieces "Brave Dissent" and / or "Good Fortune," know that I've updated them recently.  (I just edited each, so you shouldn't have to re-add them or anything.)  I'm putting together four of my digital paintings for a gallery show in my home town and wanted to include them. . .but they both needed overhauls.  I changed the layout and tone of Brave Dissent significantly, but really only built up more detail in Good Fortune.  You all seem to be loving the "Fortune" piece, which is fantastic (it's a favorite of mine as well).  I was just notified this morning that it made this week's Treasures list.  I'm really very excited, as it's the first list I've been included in.  :)  Thanks for any that are looking, have looked, or plan to check out my gallery in the near to distant future.  You all are wonderful!

So I've added a few more new pics.  Check 'em out and see what you think.  I'm adding them when I can.  Non-disclosure agreements pretty much back up much of what I do a year or more.  As projects role out I'll keep posting more :)  Thanks for watching. . .

Hey y'all - just going through and updating the gallery.  I've posted a new version of at least one piece and taken down a few I felt were too old.  If you'd faved those, I'm sorry.  I don't do this often, so I'll try to keep that at a minimum.  Thanks for watching and check back soon.  I've got about seven more to post that I couldn't get to this evening.

Just a quick thanks to all the artists who submitted work to the Pixel Art show.  We closed down the submissions page, as stated earlier, on Friday the 9th.  It's now up to our wonderful jury to decide who will be in the show.  Those chosen will be notified by April 23rd, and a complete list of those accepted will be posted on the main site on the same date.  Thanks again to you all - the work submitted was fantastic.  The jury has some difficult decision making to do!

So I'm currently helping to put together a show called Pixel! which will be taking place in the summer.  I strongly encourage all you fine, digital artists out there to check out the official site here:

[link]

The show is made up of two parts, a juried section and an invitational section.  The invitational portion of the show has now been finalized and if you check out the link above, I'm sure you'll find many names you can both recognize and get excited about.  If you're accepted to the show, these are the people your work will be displayed next to.

This show has been designed by digital artists in the Portland area for digital artists all over the world.  If you don't live near Lake Oswego, don't worry because we're accepting submissions globally.  It's a great way to get your work in front of a ritzy audience with no out of pocket cost for framing, matting or prints.  All work will be digitally submitted and displayed on top-of-the line LCD monitors.  As you'll see in the FAQ - up to 10 limited-edition prints will be sold of each piece accepted into the juried show (please read the submissions agreement).  Please, please don't let that scare you.  We are not out to make a quick buck off your art and, in fact, this has been set up to make money for you, the contributing artist.  You state what fee you'd like to receive for each print and the print cost and gallery fee are added to that price.  At the end of the show, you receive your requested price for each print sold.  Like I said, no out of pocket cost (save for the entry fee of course, but come on - at $25 for three submissions it's a steal).

I encourage you to enter and spread the word to your colleagues and friends.  This show has gathered a lot of steam over the last few months, with entries pouring in from as far away as Japan.  Help digital art gain a new gallery foothold in the Northwest and gain some notoriety for yourself in the process.  If you have any questions, feel free to email the show at oswegofestival@gmail.com or me personally at adam@nightlightgraphics.com .  And remember - we stop accepting submissions on March 9th!  Thanks!
