Crowd Source funding causes are a dime a dozen these days (not complaining, just recognizing the awesome fact that we have choices). I'd like to draw your attention to a particular cause today that needs your help. If you are a working artist, this concerns you.
A group of artists are attempting to create a website that would allow artists to safely and fairly grade the companies that contract work to them - much like Angie's List. This site would be devoted solely on artists and would contain educational and legal materials and resources as well. Companies (new and established) could be educated on what their scores mean, so they can see what they're doing right and wrong in the eyes of their contractors. Artists would be able to see if potential employers are fair and pay on time, etc. There would be contract templates, drawn up by lawyers, for artists and companies alike to use when establishing relationships with one another.
We've all complained at one time or another. We've all wished we had help - a better line in on who's fair to their artists and who's not. We've all wished we could change the industry, and have had all sorts of ideas on how. This is a big step, a kick-off. This is a chance to help promote change in the industry from the ground up. The people involved know what they're doing and are committed to seeing this resource take shape. If you've ever been stiffed by a new client, underpaid for the work you do, or just wanted to promote companies that pay you on time and treat you fairly - this is your chance to be heard!
There are only a few days left to support this amazing cause. Please click through to visit the Indiegogo page: www.indiegogo.com/projects/pac… And consider donating today. Thanks for your time!
